The Book Thief Pages 62-72
These two sections were again rather interesting for me as a reader. Everything I was confused about in the beginning is slowly unraveling, and I am really exited to see what is hidden underneath the it all. Liesel's father, again, really is a character that makes me feel warm when I imagine a scene of him and Liesel. He is able to cut back from all of the stress and relax in any situation, and is always willing to help Liesel.
"A story. Story after story. Story within story." Was a very cool sentence in my opinion, because it not only great to use with what is currently happening in the story, but explains the book thief in general!
I found that your take on this section was very interesting, that you are able to see Liesel and her father as two characters who work well with each other. I also appreciated the quote that you used, which was a great quote.
ReplyDeleteThe quote was one of my favorites too! I have read way ahead, and if you like the unraveling of the story, it's going to start going fast. Pretty much every question is answered. (The ones we already have. Many more will arise.) Papa is probably my favorite character. He is strong-willed, loving, but fun. If I were directing a movie about this book, I would be really picky about the Papa scenes. Everything would have to be perfect. I like your phrase "cut back". It makes me think of slicing off a block of clay; if it's done by the right person, it is smooth and even, and there is a nice large gap between the two halves. Stress and work, Love and Liesel. Papa is one of the people who can do it right.
